The Power of the Aquarius-Leo Axis
With my Sun in Aquarius on my MC/Midheaven (most public self) point, I’ve often felt like a misfit and outsider. In many ways I don’t quite fit in. I’m eccentric, weird, and whimsical. I’m multicultural, an immigrant, dual citizen, bilingual, queer, an artist and scientist…the list of my conundrums, paradoxes, and seeming contradictions goes on.
I straddle different worlds and live in a liminal space. This often leaves me feeling misunderstood because people who are living in one world, do not understand how I am mixed and “both and.” I can’t be fit into a box. For example, my Brazilian family who live in Brazil think of me as American, even while I’m in Brazil speaking Portuguese with my family. I’m also American though. However, I struggle to be understood by just Americans who have an individualistic culture, speak an emotionally dry language, and live in clock time. They don't quite understand me coming from a collectivistic, event time culture, with the emotional intelligence from speaking a romance language.
Anyways, I say all this to show you how my life is nuanced, multifaceted, and unique, which is on brand for Aquarius vibes.
So let’s dive into the Aquarius and Leo axis! Especially since the North Node and South Node has just moved into this axis for the collective, it will be impacting you as well for the next 18 months.
I’m personally initiated into this axis with my personal birth chart, so I have some insights for you to better understand this energy.
Aquarius is co-ruled by Saturn, who rules borders and boundaries. Aquarius lives beyond the boundary, ruled by Uranus, meaning an innovative and rebellious perspective. Future oriented, limitless, and expansive. Aquarius can’t be fit into a box.
In the past I’ve tried to make sense of things and understand social situations through a perspective from the border. Like a wallflower looking in- trying to figure out who I am from the outside. Looking at what I like, what’s in my space, what type of people are around me, what people have to say about me…all to try and make sense of my life. This is a very heady and intellectual way of trying to understand myself (which is on brand for an air sign).
Leo is the opposing side, sister sign, connected to Aquarius as the other side of the coin.
Leo is a fire sign embodied AF, ruled by the Sun, the center of our solar system. Leo is the center point, while Aquarius is the outside.
Leo is ruled by the heart and one’s own pleasure. They are main character energy. Which they can get a bad rap for sometimes with appearing full of themselves. So you can imagine my surprise when I found out my IC/Imum Coeli (most private self) point is in Leo. As I’ve embraced this archetype, I’ve come to better understand myself from living from my center, outward. Instead of thinking about who I am, just being who I am. Focused on my senses, body, unique joy, and what lights me up, instead of thinking about the perception of others.
This is learning how to think outside the box, while be at the center of the show. It’s an interesting dynamic. Are you willing to shine bright in your uniqueness? Are you willing to take up space in what makes you different and weird? Are you willing to embrace your unique pleasure? Are you willing to let your freak flag fly and find joy in that?
When you do this, you attract what’s most aligned with you and your unique path.
